Copper Clad Aluminum Wire, CCA Wire

The copper clad aluminum wire exploits advanced cladding welding manufacturing technology. The high quality copper strip is clad onto the outer surface of the aluminum core concentrically. Meanwhile, between the copper layer and aluminum core, there forms the solid metallurgical bonding among the atoms. Then, the two different metal materials can be combined into an undivided whole. The combined material can also be processed with drawing and annealing just like the single metal fiber. During the drawing process, the diameters of the copper and aluminum are changed with the same proportion. The volume ratio of the copper layer keeps relatively constant.

As the result of the skin effect of the high frequency signal, the product has the same conductivity with the pure copper type when transmitting high frequency (greater than 5MHz) signal. It is endowed with both the conductivity of copper and the small density of aluminum. The tin plated product can exert the performance of weldability and sulfuration resistance of tin.

Our CCA wire is fabricated with its density of 40% of the copper and far higher conductivity than pure copper. It is also as good as the copper and aluminum in flexibility. The product with appropriate specification can replace the pure copper type completely. On the basis of achieving excellent conductivity property, it makes the weight decrease by almost 50%. Thus, the total cost of the product is about 50% of that of pure copper type. So, the product is widely employed in the production of a variety of cables, electric cords and conducting equipment. It is the optimum substitute for the expensive copper wire.

Copper Clad Aluminum Wire
The copper clad aluminum wire is the bimetallic composite type which coats the aluminum core with copper layer concentrically and makes the copper-aluminum interface form the metal bonding. It belongs to the new composite material and becomes the updated substitute for copper wire. With a broad prospect for development, the product shows many advantages by exploiting the natural resources rationally, reducing the production cost effectively, facilitating engineering construction largely, etc.

Specification and Representation Method
The product is classified into two kinds in term of the copper layer volume ratio which is the proportion of copper layer volume to the volume of the product. The product with the copper layer volume ratio within the range of 8% to 12% belongs to the 10% level, marked with 10 for short. And if the copper layer volume ratio is within the range of 13% to 17%, the product is marked with 15% level, 15 for short.

According to the state of hardness and softness, the product can also be divided into another two kinds. We use H to express the hard state product without annealing after drawing. The product which is drawn and then processed with annealing stays with soft state and is marked with A. So, we can classify the copper clad aluminum line into 10H, 10A, 15H and 15A. Each kind of the product can be drawn with different nominal diameters.

The CCA is the code of the product. We usually code the product in line with certain rules. For example, we use CCA-15A-2.77 to express the soft state copper clad aluminum wire with the diameter of 2.77mm and copper layer volume ratio of 15%.

Advantages
1. The product is made by adopting the international advanced cladding welding process. The copper layer is the refined level with the purity over 99.97%. It has high dense degree and conductivity. Along with the circumferential and longitudinal directions, the copper layer distributes evenly with good concentricity. The contact surface of the copper layer and aluminum core realizes the metallurgical bonding. All the technical indexes conform to the standard of ASTM B566-93.
2. The DC resistivity of the product is 1.5 times higher than that of the pure copper type. In the case of same resistance, the product is only half the weight of the pure copper type. Calculating in accordance with the skin effect, the product has same resistivity with the pure copper type when the high frequency exceeds 5MHz. Therefore, the product can replace the pure copper wire completely for use as digital cable and high frequency signal cable, also showing excellent electrical performance.
3. In the condition of same weight and diameter, the length ratio of the copper clad aluminum wire to the pure copper type is 2.6:1. We can see that 1 ton such product is equivalent to pure copper type of 2.6 tons. Thus, the cable production cost and the raw material cost are decreased greatly.
4. The pure copper wire can be stolen easily for the economic benefit. By using the product, you can get extra anti-theft effect because it is almost impossible to peel the copper cladding layer off the aluminum core.
5. The product shows better plasticity than the pure copper type. And it won't generate the insulating oxide while the aluminum would. So, the product is much easier to process and has more excellent conductivity.
6. The light weight of the product brings much convenience for transportation and installation. The expenses of labor can be reduced accordingly.

Application Range
1. High frequency signal transmission. The copper clad aluminum wire can be employed as the flexible RF coaxial cable material and inner conductor material of leaky cable, network cable, fine coaxial cable, cable TV coaxial cable, 50Ω RF cable and flexible RF coaxial cable.
2. Power transmission. The product can also be applied for making stranded condustor, fuse, conductor of power cable and line in building wiring.
3. The product can be used as the material for busbar conductor, conductor of special cable for automobile and locomotive as well as inner conductor of computer cable, control cable and other data cable.
4. In other area, the product is also involved as the conductor material for audio and video, power line, computer peripheral line and flexible printed circuit of computer.
